Genetic Counselors and GC Faculty Resources

This pre-recorded session focused on highlighting the undocumented immigrant experience with three key goals. First, to define who undocumented immigrants are and providing insights into their diverse backgrounds, challenges, and unique journeys. Second, we will explore the complexities undocumented immigrants face, both within and outside genetic counseling. Lastly, we will describe some practical methods and available resources for compassionate, culturally competent care.

Guidance document for genetic counselors involved in genetic counseling programs. Focused on informing the genetic counseling community what barriers are faced by students and genetic counselors who have temporary protections (DACA and TPS) and those who are undocumented. This document includes proposed solutions that genetic counselors can act on to help break down barriers and improve access to undocumented students and counselors.
